Es wartet doch so viel auf mich

The 2nd concert of the event series "MUSIK.GEDENK.SCHULE - Musikalische Wege des Erinnerns " with the title " Es wartet doch so viel auf mich" (*) will take place on Thursday 18 April 2024. The event starts at 6.00 pm.

Participating schools: Oberpullendorf music school, Deutschkreutz music school and Oberpullendorf grammar school.

Music by Amy Winehouse, John Zorn, Sholom Secunda and others.

Pupils from 8C at Oberpullendorf grammar school read the diary and letters of Ruth Maier, who was murdered in Auschwitz. Together with their German teacher Alfred Liebmann, the topics of escape, hope, love,... were incorporated into different types of texts. Ruth Maier, a young Jewish woman from Vienna, had her whole life ahead of her and wrote her worries and dreams in her diary. What hopes do young people have today and how do they feel when they take a closer look at fates like Ruth Maier's? The works will be presented on 18 April.

Our guest on the concert evening: Rachel Schon, a descendant of a Jewish family from Lockenhaus in Burgenland. Her great-grandparents Emanuel Stössel and Valerie Stössel were murdered in the Holocaust, while her grandmother and her two sisters were able to escape to England. Rachel will tell part of her family history in the evening in the former synagogue in Kobersdorf and will take part in two workshops in the morning at the grammar school in Oberpullendorf.
